Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support
July 2026

Happy July from Donna,
Client Support Manager.

I hope everyone is enjoying the Summer. We have been busy with drop-in, support groups, art classes and therapies here at ALCS. If there is anything you think we should consider for 2027 do reply to this email.

We have some fabulous hampers for our Summer Raffle – do come into Cross Keys House to purchase your tickets. We also have our Summer Social the middle of this month which will be a lovely opportunity to get together, hopefully in the sunshine where the raffle will be drawn. Please sign up if you wish to attend.

The Lyme Regis Drop-in at the Waffle is proving popular – pop along for a waffle and a chat on Wednesday 15th July 10am.

July features Alcohol Awareness Week, 6-12th July. The UK Chief Medical Officers’ advice is to drink no more than 14 units a week, spread over three or more days, with several drink-free days and no bingeing.. If you wish to find out more information, fact sheets and download the MyDrinkaware App, all information can be found at Drinkaware Home | Drinkaware .
Information can also be found at

Despite the wind and rainy conditions, we were delighted to meet clients and supporters at the Fete, and grateful for donations.

A huge thank you to Sheila Rabjohns for organising this Whist Drive in Colyton last month … it raised nearly £120 for Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support.  Thank you!

A huge thank you to Rose Mock for her birthday fundraiser this month … she raised £585 for Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support.  Thank you!

Thank you to the Devon Community Foundation – we are grateful to receive an additional grant to enable us to continue to support the Smoking Cessation work in Devon.
With many thanks!

3. Recommended Website

ANDYSMANCLUB has free support groups nationwide, running every Monday from 7PM except bank holidays. In these groups, men can open up about the storms affecting their lives in a safe, judgement-free and non-clinical environment. Our clubs are designed to be free of pressure, there is no obligation for men to speak, they can simply listen if they wish.

With thousands of men using our sessions every week, and an army of volunteers on board, the movement is continuing to grow week-by-week. We firmly believe in the power of talking and that #ItsOkayToTalk.

The aim of the club is to provide men with a safe space where they feel comfortable to talk and open up about their experiences in a room free of judgment.

Local groups in – Honiton, Sidmouth
