Volunteering

” Join a welcoming team where you will be highly valued, provided with excellent training, meet interesting people (both clients and other volunteers) and enjoy yourselves! Make a difference feel the rewards”

A warm welcome to our volunteers page

Did you know, a recent survey of volunteers across the UK reported findings on the benefits felt by people who gave up some of their time each month to volunteer.  Particularly if the charity or group was connected to a cause that they themselves, or a member of their family or a friend had been affected by.  Many volunteers said they felt good when they were able to help or make a difference to someone else’s life . Others spoke of improvements in their own mental health and wellbeing with a new sense of purpose and the enjoyment of  meeting new people and making new friends which in turn  reduced feeling of social isolation….

If you have a few hours to spare each month have you considered joining our amazing team of volunteers here at
Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support.
There are so many ways you can be involved to make a real difference
  • supporting clients 1-1
  • supporting at our extensive creative and physical activity program
  • making tea/coffee at drop-in sessions
  • helping in our little charity shop and pop up shop
  • working with us on our fundraising initiatives
We ensure all our volunteers are well equipped to support our clients through a programme of training and rewards including:
  • New volunteer training
  • 4 volunteer training sessions per year with expert speakers
  • Volunteers may participate courses as the volunteer on duty
  • Annual volunteer award programme
We would like our volunteers to commit to at least 3 sessions per month.
Many of our volunteers have themselves had cancer, we recommend that you are at least 2 years post treatment before volunteering.

Would you like to volunteer with us?

If you would like to join us, or know anyone who could help us with administration, hosting our drop-in sessions, fundraising etc, please get in touch.
