Newsletter No.14 – October 2019

The clocks have gone back and there are signs of colder times ahead. Swimming in the sea is a different experience every morning but still invigorating and worth getting up for some glorious sun rises. We have been consolidating and reflecting on our first year of drop ins and are so incredibly grateful to our volunteers without whom we would not be able to offer this weekly support. More on volunteers later.

Co-op Local Community Fund
Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support has been chosen to benefit from the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund.
The funding round will open on 27 October 2019 and close on 24 October 2020.  Every time a member buys selected own-brand products and services, 1% of the money they spend goes to local causes in their community.  Not a member?  Join here

During this funding phase, Co-op Members will be able to choose Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support as their local cause.

Help us to fundraise

With thanks to Kevin, our treasurer, we now have two more ways you can contribute to the charity. We have added a donate button to the website where you can do a one off donation or set up a monthly standing order through Localgiving. We are able to claim gift aid so please do support us, the gift aid makes such a difference.

You can also sign up for EasyFundrasing – every time you shop online, at no cost to you, we receive donations from the participating stores.  Sign up today!

Recommended Reading

This month’s recommended book is   very topical as this month we have seen a lot in the press about the menopause. The Balance Plan by Angelique Panagos talks about all things related to hormones through all stages of our life .Appropriate for both men and women! Some great pieces of advice and recipes.

Would you like to volunteer with us? This month we welcomed two new volunteers Tiffany and Lynne, we look forward to working with them in the coming months. We were joined by a representative from Macmillan at our training session, it was great to have Sam’s input and support.  If you would like to join us, or know anyone who could help us with administration, hosting our drop-in sessions, fundraising etc, please get in touch. We are holding our next volunteer training session on December 4th.
Please email for more information on the roles available and an application form.
