Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support December 2024 Hello from Donna and welcome to December, I am…
Newsletter No.40 – December 2021
This morning I was greeted by this amazing sunrise to swim towards, it was glorious and so very quiet in Lyme. Yesterday was Winter Solstice and the beach was really busy with a yoga class, runners and more than 20 people swimming, it was grey and damp. So today the first day of our days getting lighter, of the earth beginning to show signs of new growth I felt really blessed to be all on my own on the beach! I have my seeds ready to plant and will again plant with the moon which did appear to make a positive difference this year. We will be pulling our own leeks and cutting our kale on Christmas Day and enjoying produce frozen throughout the year from raspberries, to peas and of course pickles! The biggest jar of pickled onions will be devoured .Thank you to everyone who has been part of ALCS this year to support local people. May I wish you all a very happy Christmas and hoping that 2022 is a good one.
We have made the decision this week to have January on Zoom. We are hoping the Men’s Pie & Pint can become walk & a pint outside on the 18th. We are advising all clients and volunteers to take a LFT on a Monday prior to arriving along with masks/social distancing if you prefer and the windows open for circulation. This is subject to government changes and any rules put in place. LFT can be ordered from https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests

Making decisions about cancer treatment and the importance of quality of life with Steve Payne The Dr Louise Newson Podcast
n this episode, Dr Louise Newson is joined by a long-time friend, retired consultant urologist, Steve Payne. Together they discuss Steve and his wife Jan’s experience of her breast cancer and subsequent treatment that led to estrogen depletion. Steve describes the decision-making process they went through as a couple when Jan’s quality of life deteriorated due to severe urine and kidney infections, as well as other symptoms relating to a lack of estrogen.
The experts talk about how some people’s experience in cancer care clinics can fall short of patients and their partners being given full and balanced information into how cancer treatments will affect your hormones and what this potentially means for your quality of life. Steve shares his honest reflections and insights about cancer care clinics and offers invaluable advice for those navigating these complex and confusing decisions at such a difficult time.

Christmas Wreath
Roundy green thing
On my door,
Decked with ribbons,
Bows and more.
The scent of line
From woven leaf,
My lovely, festive,
Christmas wreath.
